Ok, this holiday could be fun! As a kid, how many of us thought we should be able to make a holiday? Maybe it was “Bring your Dog to School Day” for all the animal lovers out there. Or “Wear Your Favorite Tiara To School” for all the little princesses out there. 

But now that we are older and wiser – we know some of these days can’t happen. Or do we? Maybe today we will take a chance and add our made-up holiday. Now it may be “Sit on the Couch and Be left Alone Day” or “Kids Don’t Bug Your Parent for an Hour Day” or my favorite “Fend For Yourself Day” (my kids are all adults – I don’t advise this one if you have little ones;) 

My son’s idea – Spend $0 Day. That means no morning stop for coffee, no lunch out, and you’ll be making your dinner at home. I admire his frugality. 

Perhaps you want to acknowledge someone you look up to or want to pay homage to heritage or background; it could be implemented worldwide. Something you feel passionate about or to address a social justice issue. 

How do you start? 

Whatever your special day would be, think about it and act on it. Begin by talking about your special day to others you know. Write it on the calendar for all to see, post online about “Whatever Made Up Day ” you thought of on your social media feed, and see how many people “fall for it.” Celebrate in style – add activities and get as many people on board as you can! Maybe your next fake holiday will become a viral sensation!
