I love the book of Proverbs! The words are so valuable and helpful for daily life! Whether you are a believer or not, the text of Proverbs has wisdom for everyone!

You can apply the principles to daily living! This scripture is no different!

If you can help someone – DO IT! Don’t make excuses or tell them to come back later as the text proceeds into verse 28. “Do not say to your neighbor, “Come back tomorrow, and I’ll give it to you – when you already have it with you.”
This scripture shows that we need to be honest and have a servant’s heart. If it is in your power to help someone at a specific time – regardless of what the ask is – do it!

Are you the type of person who sees how you can help others? Or do you walk by and hope the person doesn’t notice you. Or you avoid the call of the friend or neighbor that may have a request of you. Maybe they need a hand with a task, or they need advice – but you are always too busy, too tired, or don’t want to. Then here is my challenge for you, take a day this week and see how you can help someone. If you already do this, increase it to two or more days. If you are a keener – do it every day this week! It could be as simple as taking a cart back to the corral for an older person or opening a door for someone. It may be paying for a coffee. Or telling the friend that needs help you will be right over.

Whatever it is, whether big or small, knowing that you helped someone else increases your joy! We don’t do things for other people to get accolades, but the byproducts of being “do-gooders” are fulfilling to our souls.
