Well, this is a fun one! I mean, have you ever wondered what your name means? We all have a name! Today is the day you can dig deeper and find out the meaning of your name. You can do your first name or first and last name. Whatever you choose! You may find out something new about yourself! 

Perhaps you have your grandmother’s name or your father’s name. What is the significance of your name? A name gives us identity – it often shows our heritage or our lineage. 

The act of naming has been around since nearly Day One (Genesis 2:19). Naming helps define, distinguish, and set apart one thing from another. A name carries who we are, our culture, family, and historical connections. A name gives us a sense of who we are, the communities in which we belong, and our place in the world.

I took the challenge myself and found my name is “of German origin, meaning ‘whole’ or ‘universal.’ It may be a pet form of Emma or Emily and has the variant spellings of Emi, Emmie, or Emmi.”

I also looked up Emilia and was quite surprised. My family is Polish, Emilia has been passed on to many in our lineage. “The name Emilia is of Spanish, Italian, Hungarian and means “rival.” The feminine version of the Roman clan name Aemilius is derived from the Latin aemulus, meaning “rival” or “eager.”
